A survey of fault prediction and location methods in electrical energy distribution networks

One of the main factors that disrupt reliability and stop energy provision is fault occurrence in distribution networks. Thus, accurate fast prediction location networks are essential for increasing reliability, restoration, optimal electrical consumption, customer satisfaction. This study reviews investigates topics. To this end, existing methods views context reviewed first; then, investigated. paper various methods, their advantages, disadvantages, technical reports, patents conventional networks, smart-grids, micro-grids. Comparison with other surveys indicates it more comprehensive despite others covers prediction. In addition, includes an up to date review distance measurement considering different network types (AC/DC), presence DG, communication automation standards, synchronous unsynchronous measurement, magnetic state estimation-based methods.
